Information and instructions for students sitting the SAT and PSAT
on October 9 at Foothill High School

Registration

The SAT and PSAT will be administered on Friday, October 9, at Foothill High School. Since this is a non-school day, students will not miss any class time to take the test.

Register for the SAT - Current Seniors Only
  • Cost for standard registration: $90, until September 11 at 11:59 pm
  • Cost for late registration: $130, from September 12 to September 25 at 11:59 pm

SAT School Day - Fall Exam Registration

Register for the PSAT - Current Juniors & Sophomores
  • Cost for standard registration: $50, until September 11 at 11:59 pm
  • Cost for late registration: $70, from September 12 to September 25 at 11:59 pm

PSAT/NMSQT - Fall Exam Registration

From September 26, registrations will not be taken for either test. 

Important Registration Reminders
  1. Register one student at a time. Each student should complete their own registration using their personal information - not a parent’s information. Using parent information can cause issues that may affect the transfer of information to the College Board.
  2. Register for the correct test: SAT or PSAT.
  3. Double-check the student’s name and date of birth to make sure they are entered correctly. Use the student’s name, not the parent’s name.
  4. Use the same student email address associated with the student’s College Board account. We recommend using a personal email address, as PUSD email accounts are not accessible after graduation.
  5. Both tests are optional and only required by some 4-year colleges, not community colleges.
  6. Only the PSAT/NMSQT scores for juniors will be considered for the National Merit Scholarship program. Sophomores are not eligible for this program. Sophomores are welcome to take the PSAT/NMSQT for practice.

Canceling your Registration?

If you no longer wish to take the test and would like to cancel your registration, please email jfriesen@pleasantonusd.net. No refunds will be issued after the registration deadlines; however, we still need to notify the College Board of any cancellations.

On Test Day

  • Students must arrive at 7:00 am at Foothill High School on Friday, October 9, for check-in. Room assignments will be emailed to students during the week of the test.
  • Students may use a personal device for testing. If you choose not to use a PUSD-issued Chromebook, you are responsible for downloading the Bluebook app and ensuring it is updated before test day. Please check the College Board website for a list of approved devices.
  • If you are using a personal device, please make sure it is fully charged and in good working order, and bring a charger with you.
  • Important: Tech support will only be provided to students using a PUSD-issued Chromebook. We cannot provide tech support for personal devices. If your personal device fails on test day, a limited number of backup Chromebooks will be available.

Further Instructions - What to Bring and more
  1. Know that the test will take approximately three hours and you will not be permitted to leave early, even if you believe you have done all you can on the test.
  2. Bring your FHS ID, Driver's license, or photo ID on your phone.
  3. Bring pencils, College Board approved calculator, and your device (fully charged and with a power cord). You can also bring a snack and water for under your desk.
  4. You may bring your phone, but it must be turned off and left in your bag in a designated area.
  5. Apple watches and all other electronics are not allowed in the testing room. Leave these at home.  
  6. You cannot bring hats with brims or wear a hood on your head during the test.
  7. This is a non-school day so the office will be closed. Have a method to contact your ride home when the test is over.
  8. Review Permitted and Prohibited Items to see what is allowed and what is not allowed in the testing room.
     

Getting Your Results

  1. Download the BigFuture® School app.
  2. Provide your mobile number during the SAT exam setup.
  3. When scores are available, you’ll receive a text with a download link.
  4. Click on the link and review your SAT scores directly on your phone.
