AP Exams
AP Exam Registration opens on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and closes on Friday, November 7, 2025. Late registration (extra fees apply) continues until January 30, 2026, at midnight.Registering for an AP exam is a two-step process and both steps must be completed to access the AP Classroom resources and/or order AP Exams.
For Students Enrolled in AP Classes
1st Step
Students need to register on the College Board website.
If you don't already have a College Board account, create a new one.
You will need a personal email for each student account. It is not recommended to use PUSD Gmail accounts for 12th graders as these emails will be deactivated after graduation.
In order to register, students must use the unique join codes received from their AP teachers. Each teacher and each teacher’s period has a specific join code for the course AP exam. If you plan to take multiple AP exams, you will need a specific join code per course per teacher per period.
2nd Step
Students pay for the exam on the Total Registration site.
Go to www.totalregistration.net/AP/052497. If you already created an account last year, please use the same log in and email.

For Self Study, Exam Only Students
1st Step
For self study, exam only students, you must pay for your respective exam(s) first. After payment has been completed on Total Registration you will get your classroom code(s).
Go to www.totalregistration.net/AP/052497. If you already created an account last year, please use the same log in and email.
2nd Step
Students will need to register on the College Board website using the code that you got after paying for your exam(s) on Total Registration.

AP Exam Registration Dates & Policies
- The registration period for AP Exams is from Wednesday, October 8, 2025 (8:00 AM) through Friday, November 7, 2025 (midnight).
- Late registrations will be accepted from November 8, 2025 to January 30, 2026 (midnight) with a $60 late fee per AP exam.This is the final deadline to register for AP Exams. No registrations will be accepted after Friday January 30th, 2026 at midnight.
- Exams are only available for courses offered in Pleasanton Unified School District. The fee is $120 per exam.
- All AP exams will be done electronically using a school issued Chromebook. No personal devices are allowed to be used. It is the student’s responsibility to have a functioning and fully charged Chromebook. School issued Chromebooks can be borrowed closer to your exam date.
- Test cancellation requests can be made through the Total Registration website. Full refunds are provided for exams canceled by November 7, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Exams canceled between November 8, 2025 and January 30, 2026 at midnight are eligible for a $55 refund for each exam canceled. No refunds are granted for any exams canceled after January 30, 2026.
AP Exam Schedule

Make-up (late) testing will occur Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. See the above table for the late testing window. If a student is unable to sit for their exam, it is the student's responsibility to communicate with their AP Coordinator before the exam starts to request a make-up exam. Make-up exams are not guaranteed and may require a doctor's note.
