Welcome to Boys Water Polo!  We are so excited and looking forward to a great 2026 water polo season!  Please make sure you are ready by completing your forms, clearances and also paying your voluntary donation in advance of the start of the season.  Ideally, you can submit your donation at the beginning of practice or at the Student Activities office via a check made out to “Foothill High School” with “boys water polo-(player’s last name)” in the memo line.  

Please read all the way through.  There is a lot of information here.  And, definitely check back often!  We will update as the season gets closer and more info becomes available.

Coach Ethan will offer a donation supported Boys Waterpolo Clinic at Foothill High School on July 27-30, 2026 10am-12pm:                  Open to boys 6th-12th grade. You must register to participate and complete the waiver (turn in on 1st day of clinic).   All players, regardless of history playing waterpolo, will have an opportunity to improve on their fundamentals, game awareness, and overall confidence in the pool.  All players will receive instructions from past players in eggbeatering, passing, shooting, ball handling, defensive positioning, and overall game strategy over the course of 4 days.  

Preseason Conditioning begins at Muirwood Park/FHS on: August 3-7 9am-11:30am; evenings group 1 (returning V): 6-8pm, group 2 (returning JV): 7-8:30pm

Mornings:  We will be meeting at Muirwood Park (near the school, on Muirwood Dr.) Starting with dry land workouts and end up at the FHS pool.

Evenings: We will meet at the FHS pool

Please come prepared and always with plenty of water.  Mornings, be ready for both dry land (at Muirwood Community Park) and pool workouts at FHS.  Arrive at Muirwood community Park each morning - wearing running shoes and shorts.  Bring speedo, goggles and towel for pool workouts. 

• Group 1 (Returning Varsity and invited players):  Mornings and then evenings at 6-8pm
• Group 2 (Returning JV and new incoming players): Mornings and then evenings at 7-8:30pm 

Regular Season and Try-outsThere will be a Varsity and a Junior Varsity boys waterpolo team.  Tryouts will occur just prior to school starting, but will continue with new students who would like to attend practice and be placed on the teams.  Junior Varsity will be a no-cut team, so we encourage students to come try the sport!

First Day of School is Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.

Uniforms

• There is no uniform for practices, other than practice suit/goggles/towel.
• Mandatory Uniform: New players please be sure to order your suit (Item 6) and polo (Item 7) as soon as stores open
• Returning players: There are no suit or polo changes this season, so please order if you need a larger or replacement suit/polo. Suit Link and polo shirt info below.

Important Info for parents and players — PLEASE READ

1) FHS Athletic Clearance aka The Sports Packet must be completed ASAP, (links included).

2) We appreciate your Donation of $450. This program is funded by your donations.  Please pay by check, not online.

The team needs this help as athletic programs receive no financial support from the district or state.

Your voluntary donation is fully tax deductible. Our team is completely funded by parents, sponsors and fundraisers. Donation funds provided by parents are necessary to cover your players' coaches' stipends and the officials' fees for games. Fundraisers help the team buy necessary equipment. Donations of $450 can be made by check (payable to "Foothill High School"; be sure to write "Boys Water Polo Fair Share / Your Player's Name" in the memo line). Checks can be handed to the coaches, or turned into the office at “Student Activities.”

A meeting for new & returning parents will be held. You can bring checks to the Kick Off Parents' Info Meeting (time and date TBD), to the student activities office, or to practice.

We will happily accept checks any time. If you need to pay your fair share in multiple payments, that's great too!

**Bonus points if your company matches! Please look into company matching — this is a great opportunity for our team to raise much needed funds for equipment replacement, etc. If you have matching fund questions, please check in with the team coach or team parents (Sara Orr and Renee Culver). You can also receive a donation letter if needed.  Should you feel inclined, additional donations can be made out to "Foothill Athletic Boosters" and it’s important to add "Boys Water Polo" in the memo so the check is correctly directed to the Boys Water Polo account.

3) Driver's Clearance

Transportation to Away games will rely on PUSD-cleared parent drivers (we do not have team buses). Having as many cleared parent drivers as possible is absolutely crucial for tournaments and away games. Please complete the below 2 items ASAP (even if you are unsure if you can drive) as it takes a some time for PUSD to clear drivers (last year it took a few weeks!).  If possible please hand this in before 2026-27 school year starts.

Please note that if there are not enough cleared drivers to transport players to a particular Away game, families will be responsible for making arrangements to get their player to the game.

4) Please consider volunteering on deck. Our program needs parent volunteers helping to make it work!

We have jobs for everyone and every skill level.  In order to have a successful season, we need parents on deck helping with set up, take down, stats and spotter, run our table — book, spotter, shot clock/score board and there are always odd jobs. It is not as scary as it sounds!  : ) Water Polo is a small and tight knit family.  For a successful season, we need parents helping at each home game. Getting involved & learning the game is fun and you'll become part of the family. We will train for the more technical jobs and don't worry, you won't get tossed into the "deep end".

We will also need breakfast for our boys after morning "Rise & Grind" practices — this is another way to get involved. Our boys love their breakfasts and we love to send them to school after practice with full bellies! Be sure to watch out for the sign up genius.

5) Band app for Communications

The Boys Water Polo team uses Band for all team communications. If you need to be added to Band, please send us your email address, your son's grade and your son's first and last name, and we'll send you an invitation to join (please be sure to accept the invite in order to receive team communications).  Send requests to Coach Ethan: ethanh.nguyen21@gmail.com

6) Team Suits - REQUIRED for ALL players. 

Please watch for store open/close dates. There will be two opportunities to purchase team suits. Returning players are advised to order in the first store for early delivery.  Suits are expected to take about 3 weeks.  All suits will have player's last name only on them - mandatory.  Suits from all orders will be handed out at the pool as orders are received. 8) Team Pictures - required uniform = Team polo, Khaki Pants (not shorts)

DATE TBD- on deck with regular practice to follow. For both JV and Varsity players.  Please come prepared and in uniform.

Please have photographer's form filled out (link below to print) and have check ready or cc info completed and ready to hand to photographer on picture day. There is no online form of payment. Individual/buddy photos will likely start at 4:00 p.m. sharp followed immediately by team photos.
