Athletics
Foothill's athletic department is a competitive program with a wide variety of sports to provide opportunities for all students.
Athletics at Foothill are self-funded. Athletic director costs, trainer fees, transportation expenses, uniform expenses, equipment upgrading/replacement and tournament entry fees are self-funded. As such, a voluntary donation is asked of each player to help fund these valuable programs as well as to support our Foothill Athletic Boosters.
All students are welcome to participate in athletics whether or not a donation is made. However, without your generous support, athletics at Foothill would be unable to continue.

For additional information about high school athletics, there is a district Student and Family Guide to Athletics for your reference. This has valuable information related to athletic eligibility, coaching requirements, safety procedures, etc for all of our sites in the Pleasanton Unified School District.
Athletic Participation & Eligibility
In order for any student-athlete to participate during any season, they must be fully cleared following the athletic clearance process which is outlined on the Athletic Clearance page. It includes going through the online clearance site to complete all of the needed information, upload a current physical, review all of the documents and provide authorization, and print out the confirmation page for a "wet signature." In addition, student-athletes must be academically eligible, which is outlined on the Academic Eligibility page. Students must have above a 2.0 G.P.A. and have no more than one "F." Finally, student-athletes must be in school for 2/3rd's of the school day (for example be at school for 4 of the 6 periods) in order to participate in practice and games. This information is all found in the Student and Family Guide to Athletics near the bottom of page 7. In addition, any issues that related to loss of school privileges due to consequences for violations of the district's discipline policy could also impact athletic participation.
Informational Sports Meetings
Athletes and their parents/guardians should attend the informational meetings for fall, winter and spring sports. Please check the website for meeting dates. You'll get all the info you need regarding fall sports.
Athletes must complete the sports packet on AthleticClearance.com and a physical exam, before they allowed to try out for a team or attend practice. Fall sports: It's crucial that the sports packet be completed online before school ends in June to allow time for processing.
Access the entire sports packet. An annual physical exam or statement by a medical doctor is required certifying that the student is physically fit to participate in athletics. The sports packet page includes a form athletes should take to their physical exam and then upload with their sports packet. Please note that a chiropractor's assessment is no longer valid.
The voluntary donations for sports are truly appreciated since our athletic programs at Foothill are all self-funded and cannot run without the support of the community. Voluntary donations can be submitted on Future Fund, or checks can be delivered to the Foothill office (checks made out to Foothill High School with the sport in the memo line).
All athletic teams at Foothill stress sportsmanship and fair play. Participation depends on the following:
- Completion of the sports packet (available online)
- Attend a pre-season meeting with the coaching staff
- Attend all tryouts and practices
- Follow all rules of eligibility, both transfer and academic
Pre-season sport meetings are held before the beginning of each season of sport. These informational meetings will be held in the Large Gym (unless otherwise indicated).
